This colorful and charming series of decodable readers comes from Teacher Created Resources. Each book highlights a vowel sound. The books are grouped by sound and level of challenge. For example, for the short a sound, there are 3 readers labeled on the back with short a - book 1, short a – book 2 or short a – book 3. Sentences get longer as you move up a level. In the back of each reader, you find a list of the decodable words (those following the rule or sound pattern) and a list of the sight words (the non-rule followers). Extension activities include some discussion questions and ideas to explore the story. In the short u – book 1, these include making bubble paint as an art activity, listing all the things in the tub (cup, pup, bug, jug) and thinking of more rhyming words. Also, talking about the nursery rhyme with “rub a dub dub" and come up with more sayings like this. Each book is about 15 pages. 7" x 9" ~Sara
