Description

My first thought with this book was that it was a compatible resource to go along with Rosetta Stone German. It is just hard to find a nice German course for high school students. The book is divided into thirds. In the first section, you have a thorough job explaining grammar in a systematic fashion. There are 24 pages just on nouns! This is followed by articles, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, verbs, etc. You can work front to back, or easily use it as a reference for self-instruction. The middle section (in light blue pages) has verb tables. This is such a nice reference for students who are just learning to write in a language. It is an alphabetical list of commonly used verbs and shows eight verb tenses plus sample sentences. The last chunk of the book is a vocabulary resource, not a dictionary (you will still need one of those) but a listing of vocabulary words by theme. It includes the basic/intermediate vocabulary language learners want to know: travel, health, family, shopping, city/countryside and lots more. It is my opinion that this resource, along with a nice bilingual dictionary, would last you through levels 1 and 2 of Rosetta Stone. 5" x7.75", 695 pgs, pb/hc. ~Sara
