Gifted: Raised Children Intentionally
This is a collection of stories to inspire you as a homeschooler. You already know what you are doing is of lasting value, but it can help refresh your energy to read some good anecdotes from others who have been through it. You have been gifted with these children. The content is reminiscent and contemporary, and I enjoyed reading both perspectives from author Chris Davis (now in his 70s). He talks a lot about parenting and life in general using his successes and his shortcomings in the very readable stories. You could open to any page and read there, or start at the beginning. I found the information more broad which leaves you, the reader, to fill in the specifics relevant to your family. sc, 207pp. ~ Sara
Gifted: Raising Children Intentionally includes subjects I have shared during my 30 years as a conference speaker. The book also contains many of my favorite stories. Chapter One, What Is a Child?will help newer homeschoolers (and the simply curious) to understand the real reasons most pioneer homeschoolers chose to raise their own children at home. This critical understanding is often missing in today's homeschooling and is why today's homeschoolers are simply replicating the public school at home and, thereby, missing what God intended the homeschooling movement to accomplish.
