Children's Treasury of Mother Goose
Every child needs a Mother Goose, and this edition, with charming illustrations by Linda Bleck, is the one that belongs on every bookshelf. Here are the playful, rhythmic verses kids have loved and listened to for generations, from "I Saw a Ship A-Sailing" to "Simple Simon" to "The Crooked Sixpence."
To Market * The Clever Hen * The Little Girl with a Curl * Wee Willie Winkie * For Want of a Nail * Going to St. Ives * The Lion and the Unicorn * Pussy-Cat and Queen * The Grand Old Duke of York * and more!
What a charming collection of those rhymes and stories we all know so well, and many we may not. Each book has colorful, whimsical illustrations that go with the text giving them wide appeal. I think they have a bit of a nostalgic look. If you are looking for read-alouds, those kind of books with "ear" appeal, then you have found them! The sing-song rhythms roll off your tongue. A set of these would make a lovely gift to anyone with small children.
Prayers and Lullabies have Christian content, but the others do not.
Each book is 9x9" with a different colored polka-dotted spine. 28pp, sc ~Sara
