Build a handful of adventure cards to gain Enhancements or defeat with a Strike, Stomp or Scream, grumpy trolls, angry ogres, fiery ants, dragons and more. Just when you have your strategy figured out, the landscape of Dragonwood changes again. The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins. This beautifully illustrated and designed fantasy game by Gamewright® combines thought, strategy, and a bit of luck into a card and dice game the whole family will enjoy. For 2-4 players. The game takes an average of 20 minutes to play and contains 108 cards, 6 custom dice, and rules of play.

Dare to enter Dragonwood! Deep in the heart of this mythical forest lurk angry ogres, giggling goblins, and even the famed and fearsome fire-breathers themselves! Collect sets of adventurer cards to earn dice, which you will use to roll against your foes. Stomp on some fire ants, shriek at a grumpy troll, or strike the menacing orange dragon with a magical silver sword. Choose your strategy carefully because the landscape of Dragonwood is ever changing. Only the bravest will overcome the odds to emerge victorious!

About the Game

It may be hard to imagine, but Dragonwood, with its vast array of richly illustrated cards, started out looking much different than where it ended. Inventor Darren Kisgen submitted a prototype without a single illustration – just simple words and numbers written in marker on blank white cards. Well apparently that’s all was needed, because within moments, our play testers were enraptured with the simple-to-learn but deeply engaging fantasy-themed game. Illustrator Chris Beatrice beautifully captured the wit and humor depicted in Darren’s words to create one of our most visually appealing games.

I got this for a friend that likes to play various games, from card to board games. I thought that getting a game that is easy for multiple age groups, easy to learn, and quick to play was a good choice. He used to play D&D and lots of bookshelf games.

I bought it for my granddaughter on her request. She played with it her first time with her friends and loved it. It was purchased for her 9 th birthday. My almost 8 year old grandson loves playing it with his sister.

Kid loves it
My almost 5 year old loves this game. It says 8 + so I didn’t think he would be able to play, but he can with a little help from us. We have e played almost every night since we bought it and I think it’s been helping his knowledge of math and numbers.

We may wear this game out....
This has been constantly played since it was opened on Christmas morning. While originally purchased for my 9-year old, his younger brothers down to 4 also enjoy playing and caught on within a game or two. This has also been enjoyed by the adults!

Great game for a smart First grader to Adult!
I taught a games class at my co-op for 1-3rd graders & this was the class favorite. My teenagers at home also love it. It's fast-paced & pretty easy to learn. I don't recommend for some special needs kid b/c there are some decisions that need to be made by the player that can overwhelm- deciding which of the 3 attack strategies to use, adding up the numbers in the attack & grouping cards with different colors & numbers may be too much. However, an average-ly smart First grader will do fine. The art on the cards was a hit too.

Great Game for sneaky math practice!
My daughter loves this game and it has been a unexpected place to practice basic math facts (multiplication and addition) as well as probability. Easy to learn and quick to play.
