Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue CDs (Knights of Arrethtrae Book #4)
Lady Carliss faces the challenge of her life. Can she save the kingdom before it’s too late? Determined, smart and a master of both the sword and the bow, Lady Carliss has proven herself as a veteran Knight of the Prince. Returning from a mission of aid, Carliss is plunged into adventure once again as she searches for the marauders responsible for kidnapping a friends’ family. Along the way she is reunited with Sir Dalton and discovers that the struggle in her heart is far from over. When Dalton falls to the vicious attack of a mysterious, poisonous creature, Carliss finds herself in a race against time. As Dalton clings perilously to life, she must find the antidote in the distant and strange city of Moorue. While there, Carliss uncovers the master plot of a powerful Shadow Warrior that will soon overtake the entire Kingdom. Her faith in the Prince and her courage as a knight are tested as she faces evil Shadow Warriors and a swamp full of dreadful creatures. The lives of many, including Dalton’s, depend on Carliss. But she cannot save them all, for time is running out. She faces an impossible choice: save Dalton, or let him die so that others may live.
Introduce your children to the allegorical tales featuring the mighty knights of Arrethrae! Unabridged audio CDs are well done with multiple voice dramatizations, and quality (not-distracting!) background music. Children and adults will be enthralled as they are pulled into the adventures of each knight as he battles his adversary. Run time is 4-6 hours depending on the book, with 4-5 CDs per set. ~ Deanne
"Journey to Arrethrae, where these knights of noble heart live and die in loyal service to the King and the Prince. These knights are mighty, for they serve a mighty King. They are... the Knights of Arrethrae!" Written by Chuck Black, author of the Kingdom series, this series, although featuring an order of faithful knights and full medieval trappings, is a bit different. While the Kingdom series is based on the events of the Bible, this series is allegorical in the sense that the knights and their enemies reflect Christians today and the temptations of this world. Although the various knights make appearances throughout the series, each title follows one particular knight as they face a powerful adversary. In Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione, Sir Kendrick investigates a secretive new order of knights and faces off against Lord Ra, who encourages young people to leave home and never return (symbolizing the danger of rebellion). Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue pits the valiant lady knight against Lord Malco, distributor of the dangerously addictive “esca” crystals (representing various forms of escapism). The storylines are not only enlightening but exciting and would make perfect family read-alouds. If you enjoy them as a family you’ll especially appreciate the discussion questions by chapter (answers are included). Just under 200 pgs each, pb. – Jess
