Publisher Description:
Mankind has always gazed heavenward and pondered the mystery of the universe. Where does it begin and end? How does our earth fit into the scheme of things? When and how did ancient man's perspective on the heavens begin to change? The LIFEPAC 7th Grade Science Unit 3 Worktext from Alpha Omega Publications answers these and other questions for your seventh grader. In clear, easy-to-decipher prose, with thought-provoking questions to test your child's comprehension, this third in a series of ten worktexts explains the history of stargazing, from the magi to Copernicus, the geocentric theory, and the tools of the modern astronomer.
In addition to text-based instruction, this self-paced Alpha Omega curriculum includes colorful illustrations, thought-provoking comprehension exercises, regular self tests, and a teacher-administered unit test—all designed to encourage mastery of lesson content. And because each LIFEPAC worktext can be completed in as little as three to four weeks, your student will experience a sense of accomplishment with the completion of each one.
Grade 7: General Science I What is Science?, Perceiving Things, Earth in Space I, Earth in Space II, The Atmosphere, Weather, Climate, Human Anatomy I, Human Anatomy II, Careers in Science
LIFEPAC worktexts provide a complete, year-long science curriculum for each grade. From a Christian publisher, the approach is systematic mastery learning. It's very easy to teach from, with no need to write out lesson plans or prepare materials. You will have to gather equipment and materials for science experiments, however. Each grade contains 10 small worktexts which the students progress through at their own pace. Each unit studied includes vocabulary, text, and comprehension questions to assure students retain the material. The science series is more activity-oriented than AOP's other subject Lifepacs, with plenty of experiments to help illustrate science concepts. Grades 1-10 worktexts contain colorful illustrations; grades 11-12 are only available in black and white. The Complete boxed sets also include a Teacher's Guide with teaching tips and answer keys.
Alpha Omega is in the process of updating the covers on the LIFEPACs. It is only a cosmetic change; the LIFEPAC content has not been modified. While they are transitioning to the new covers, please be aware that you may receive a mix of LIFEPACS with old and new covers in a set.
