Product Description:

In this adorable game, kids work together as a team to win the game. Featuring Richard Scarry's beloved characters and familiar artwork, the colorful game board is six feet long and contains tons of details in the illustrations. The goal of the game is for all the players to reach Picnic Island for a picnic before the pigs eat all of the food. Players take turns spinning the spinner and moving their character along the path. The spinner contains moving spaces, pigs eating spaces, and Goldbug mystery spaces. If you spin a "Move," simply move your pawn the number of spaces designated. When "Pigs Eat," remove one of the food tokens from Picnic Island and spin again. If the spinner lands on Goldbug, flip over the top Goldbug card and all players work together to find as many of the item depicted on the card, on the gameboard, and everyone moves that number of spaces. With sharp eyes and a little bit of luck, players can get to the picnic before the food is gone! A different game every time you play; for 2 or more players.

Richard Scarry is great. My children really enjoyed his books. I want to share him with my grandchildren. I like the team work premise of the game and everyone loves "eye spy" games and books.

best ever game for young children
I bought this for my daughter's children 10 years ago and they loved it but lost pieces. So, i bought it again for my son's boy. He likes it and even the older children enjoy the revisit. I like that it gives even 4 years olds an idea of turn taking and one to one correspondence with moving their character. Of course, they love finding pictures, too. But the best thing for young children is that they are not competing with each other; they are competing with the pigs, who can easily win. They children all experience losing, but find it funny that they all lost and pigs won. When any player gets on the raft, all plays get on the raft and crossing the river is a group experience in the race to the picnic. They game is short and the kids usually want to do it again. The deck has enough cards to do the game twice without reusing the pictures, which keeps our interest in our searches.
