This is what we use for our science journals. The kids will draw a picture of the day's experiment then use the lines for explanation.

I like to use these story pads for my preschoolers weekend take home journal. They have the opportunity to write and draw their weekend activities with the classroom bears. We then share every Monday morning at Circle time.

I love to make a "Learning Journal". When my child watches an educational program, or reads a book and gets new information, I have him narrate a couple of sentences in his book, and color a picture to represent what he has learned.
