Category Description for Big Skills for Little Hands:

Kids feel so grown up when they have schoolbooks of their own and are mastering skills like coloring, folding, cutting, pasting, drawing, and tracing. These colorful and engaging workbooks each focus on one set of skills, progressing from easier activities to ones that are more difficult. While working on the specific skills, they will also develop fine motor skills, which will aid in so many aspects of their education. An intro section in each workbook tells parents about the importance of these skills, safety, tips and tricks for parents, kindergarten readiness and more. Children will have fun cutting, tracing, and gluing on the brightly colored pages, which offer instruction and practice to prepare for preschool and kindergarten as indicated in the national standards. A readiness checklist is found in the back of all the books except Early Concepts.

The number and type of activities vary in each book. Cutting and folding activities are printed only on one side of the page, so you won't mess up another activity, and the pages are printed on a bit heavier paper to stand up to use by little hands. Cut & Paste has 70 activities, Color & Fold includes 71 activities, Trace & Draw includes 111 activities, and Early Concepts has 185 activities. All books include a certificate of completion. ~ Donna

My son just turned two and I was looking for a resource that helped with his discovery of colors and shapes in one book At this age I wanted to begin the process of seat work in very short spurts and this book generally fits that intent The early part of the book with works with primary colors and shapes and then blends to combine them which is a little confusing at his age Later on it progresses into more exercise completion work The book is intended for 3-4 yr old preschoolers with large scale coloring and straight line cutting pages for every color and shape section Those will come in quite useful this fall when we begin that level of learning What I didn't know when beginning this book is that he would start saying the name of the picture too Hes discovering new objects and its helping his language skills tooThe only thing I would change is one or two more pages focused on each color and shape Its hard to focus on learning one color when you only have 2-3 pages to work with Then again Im not using the coloring or cutting pagesOverall its a good buy for those little learners
