My Big Book of 5-Minute Devotions
This devotional book combines the natural love children have for animals with a study of character traits they exhibit (good and bad) for a delightful end product of short but engaging devotionals for young children. It is divided into sections by habitat farm, zoo, forest, water, sky, etc. Each section contains 4-8 devotionals, each highlighting a particular animal. Each devotional covers a two-page spread. One page holds the text, and the other is a full-page illustration along with a few simple questions about the devotional to discuss with your kids after you've finished reading it. The book is fully illustrated by cute watercolor illustrations; even on pages of text there are colorful pictures around the margins and in the background. Some of the animals covered include beavers, kittens, monkeys, owls, earthworms, pigs, hippos, and hummingbirds. 96 pgs, pb. Melissa
Having a devotional time with our youngest of children is often not picture perfect. Yet as parents, we have no greater desire than to see that our children know and walk in the truth of God's Word. I think most of us can say that getting our little ones to sit (mostly!) still for five minutes is a realistic goal.
This charming devotional series is perfect for little children. Taking five minutes per day, devotions are presented in a two-page spread and provide a simplified retelling of a Biblical passage and its meaning. Children are then asked reinforcement application questions to help them fully understand the teachings. A brief prayer and Bible verse (NLT) conclude each devotional.
Each book contains 21 devotions from either the Old Testament or the New Testament. A sampling of O.T. stories includes Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah and the Flood, Joseph and His Coat, Daniel and the Lions, Jonah and many others. A sampling from the N.T. includes the Birth of Jesus, Choosing the 12 Disciples, the Woman at the Well, Mary and Martha, the Resurrection, Paul and Silas in Prison and many others. Time sensitive lessons, charming illustrations and colorful pages will engage the wiggliest of learners. 48 pgs, hc. ~Deanne
