Ticket to Ride has gone international! This mega version of Ticket to Ride adds a new dimension to the game: boats. Players now must calculate their routes with the added necessity of collecting "Sail" cards (the boat equivalent of Train cards). While this may seem like a minor change at first, boats allow players to cross continents and connect tickets in unexpected ways! Harbors and Tour Tickets (tickets which require several cities to be connected in a row) add another way to gain points, making the game quite a bit more strategic. This game has become one of our family favorites. 2 to 5 players draw tickets to connect rail routes between major cities and attempt to complete them in the most direct route possible. Routes are built in sections of 1 to 6 railcars based on playing cards of the designated color for the section. Longer routes and longer sections score more points than shorter ones. Since routes can have sections that overlap, competition for certain segments adds to the excitement. Strategy is not too complicated, so that younger players are not at a disadvantage. Games take from 45 to 75 minutes, depending on the number of players. The basic game is based on North American geography, while TTR Europe has slightly different rules and covers Europe and eastern Asia. TTR USA 1910 is an expansion that allows 3 more variations of the basic TTR game. Ticket to Ride Expansions (3-AD) (ages 8+) Across the exotic lands of Asia, from Africa, to Germany, and all the way to the Northern face of Europe, the rumble of locomotives can be heard around the world. Explore wildly different locations and circumstances around the globe as you expand your train lines in these new Ticket to Ride editions. The gameplay is similar to the original Ticket to Ride, but each map has its own challenges to overcome, including mountains, valleys, ferries, rough terrain, tolls, and other unique regional challenges. Despite the varying climates, treacherous landscapes, and locational nuances, your goal is the same. Create the best route, collect the most valuable tickets, and connect cities to beat your competition! Games listed as Expansions require Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride Europe to play. Other editions are stand-alone and require no other Ticket to Ride games to play. Games last roughly 30-60 minutes.Happy travels!

The original Ticket to Ride is so great - a perfect family game night game! This one just adds another level of fun with the "sails", and we will get to ride across our own great lakes region! My husband was very interested when he saw this game on the shelves when we were shopping, so when I saw it at the reduced price from this website, I could not resist buying it for a Christmas present.

I have played many versions of Ticket to Ride and loved them all, but this version is by far one of the most different. After looking at the set up and game play listed in the PDF manual downloads, it was very evident that this will be a fun and uniquely challenging version of a game I already love.

BEST ANSWER: We purchased this game about a year and a half ago. I think it originally came out in 2013 and re released a couple of years ago. We enjoy it🙂

Love the game!!
Rails and Sails game has ships and railroad cars that you use to complete tickets from city to city within various countries around the world. The other side of the game board covers the Great Lakes and some of Canada. There are some interesting variations from the regular Ticket to Ride and The United Kingdom.

Rails and Sails
Ticket to ride has become our favorite board game since retirement. We started with the USA version, then Europe, New York, and now the Rails and Sails. The Rails and Sails game was the most expensive but you're getting two games in the box. We played great lakes first. It took us about an hour and a half. The other side of the board is the world which took 2 hours. We found it very easy to understand/adapt after playing the other Ticket to Ride games. Rails and Sails is by far our favorite and the most challenging.

Great fun!
If you are a Ticket to Ride junkie and own multiple versions, this is an advanced game version, but not difficult if you are a seasoned Ticket to Ride player. We love the challenge!
