Category Description for Time Travelers History Study CD's:

These supplemental activities are a hands-on way to explore history. Just pop the CD-ROM into your computer, and you can explore and use the .pdf files as you see fit. The format is easy to use - the first screen that opens up is a contents page, allowing you to read the introduction, tips, teacher helps or, if you feel like just jumping right on in, you can scroll down and go straight to any of the 25 lessons. This first page also gives you lap book instructions, a gallery of photos, and all of the master pages. Clicking on anything from this screen will open up the .pdfs, from which anything can be printed for use in you home - as many times as you need. The teacher helps section includes a lot of good stuff, like a lesson planner, a resource list, binder covers (if you plan to make a binder), and timeline templates. Each lesson includes text pages (which detail the historical background and historical context), project pages (with notes on the projects that should be done with this lesson), and the actual project masters themselves. The projects are creative and varied, incorporating many different skills as they develop each historical era. Projects include creative writing, science experiments, recipes, timelines, factfile cards, penmanship, file folder games, notebooking, three-dimensional projects, period crafts, lap books, and more. The lessons on each CD-ROM should spread over 5-10 weeks, depending on the pace you set for your family. Windows and Mac compatible, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader (a free download). ~ Zach

Looks like a fun interactive way to do History.

This looks like an interesting and hands on history curriculum as opposed to a boring text book. I appreciate that it does not appear to be religiously based.

How long is each days lesson generally supposed to take?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: For planning purposes, you could probably expect about 30 minutes per day but there could be a lot of variance depending on the assignment and how caught up in the assignment your student is.

Excellent material. My 3rd grader is loving the projects in this theme-based history unit. We are stretching each lesson to last almost a week, so this unit will take us a little over a semester to complete at this rate. This allows us to add picture books on specific explorers & complete all the projects, including cooking. We have also added reading “The Stowaway”, historical fiction, and are taking advantage of the “Additional Resources” list provided. The overlay maps are fantastic. My only wish is that the company could make this unit available ready-to-use, as it takes some time to print & piece together. But what they have provided is excellent & worth the time to put it together.

What a treat these are! Very professionally done with beautiful artwork throughout (thank you Amy Pak!) Binders and lapbooks created are treasured keepsakes because of the quality of reproducibles provided So many varied hands-on activity options and games; my children and I had a blast doing these! Such an enjoyable way to learn history; very memorable in a good way!

Wow! This unit study is complete! I bought it to supplement our existing history curriculum and was surprised to discover that it is enough on its ownIf you like to lapbook this unit study includes reproducibles for an entire lapbook! If you dont like lapbooks you can pick and choose which of the mini-books youd like to make as stand alone projects The lapbook activities could also be easily adapted to notebookingAmy Paks printables are beautiful! And her activities are truly tied to the learning at hand They are not just activities for the sake of activities but real learning experiences that drive home the facts For example we had a blast playing pirate games from the CD that we printed and made ourselves! What a great reinforcement to all we had learned about pirates! The organization of the materials is aesthetically attractive and very easy to navigate The directions are super clear telling you what and how many sheets to print from the CD for each lesson and even offer photographs of the finished products In my opinion if youre planning to buy History Pockets or a lapbook kit on any of the Time Travelers topics (New World Exploration Colonial America or American Revolution) investigate these unit studies Although more expensive they are comparatively a better value
