Product Description:

Created as a supplement to The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, this spiral-bound workbook offers 40 exercises that act as "guided practice" in drawing. The exercises are divided into the five basic skills of drawing, including "Perception of Edges," "Perception of Spaces," "Perception of Relationships," "Perception of Light and Shadows" and "Perception of the Gestalt." Each exercise includes a short section at the beginning which explains the purpose for the exercise, a list of materials needed, step-by-step instructions, helpful illustrations, and examples. Blank pages and large open spaces are included in the workbook for the student to complete the exercise, which keeps everything neatly in one book and makes it easy to look over your progress. A motivating forward, a list of all the materials needed for the workbook, and a glossary of drawing terms all get you started on the right foot. If you're working through The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, this will give you plenty of extra practice! Jess

We have been amazed at how even the most artistically challenged student can turn in a beautiful portfolio by the end of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. And so much less expensive than a formal art class. Highly recommend!

My son is taking a drawing class and this is the required book. Also, it states that you can learn to draw by this method whether you are particularly talented or not - you just need to be interested in learning to draw.

does this count as highschol credit?

BEST ANSWER: This is actually a supplement for creating a portfolio that accompanies item #11132 (https://www.rainbowresource.com/proddtl?id=011132). Using the books together, you should accomplish a one semester (1/2) credit at the high school level.

Very challenging. Time schedule in the book is not always realistic. I can see improvement in my abilities from the beginning. I would recommend this book for dedicated artist who want to expand their scope and abilities. This is not a course for a general art class it is better suited for students in higher level art.

An excellent practice book for drawing skills Betty Edwards teaches you how to see an object then draw it and the exercises in this workbook help you make definite progress It feels like personal drawing lessons My 12 and 10 year olds used this book on their own with marked success I did little beyond cheering and providing the supplies which are readily available in any art store Although this could be used on its own Edwards' thoughts and explanations about art and drawing in the textbook give more depth to the workbook lessons and make for great reading
