Parade Day (Reader's Clubhouse) Level 2
Fiction about a town parade. Covers "long a" sound.
Use these readers to emphasize phonics through a lively collection of facts and stories. These are high-interest readers with most pages featuring one short sentence and child-friendly vocabulary. Two nine-book sets are available, and each single book focuses on one phonics family. The first five books in each set focus on one vowel sound each, and the remaining four books combine some vowel sounds or review them. Level 1 readers cover short vowel families, and Level 2 readers cover long vowel families. In Level 1's Dan the Ant, short “a” is covered. Dan is sad because he has no snack but he makes a map to a bag and then must make a path and a ramp to get to the snack, which is jam. Attractive, full-color illustrations accompany the stories to keep students visually stimulated, and the nonfiction readers feature colorful photographs. All books contain a note to parents/teachers explaining the phonics concepts featured. Each book also includes a vocabulary list and simple extension activity. 6” x 9”, 24 pgs, pb. ~ Rachel
