Description

Are you familiar with the Stroop Effect? Essentially, it's the difficulty in discerning two or more concepts that conflict with their usual presentation. A common illustration of this effect is having someone look over colored text that spells out names of colors and having them tell you what color the text is. The text may spell “blue", but actually be the color orange instead. This game is like a rapid-fire version of this test! Players race to build a chain of cards for points. A challenging task indeed, as cards cannot repeat and each card has 1-4 lines of colored text on it. For instance, a player may start their chain with a card that has 2 lines of text that say “purple" in green font. Their next card cannot spell the words green or purple, cannot have green nor purple colored text, and cannot have two lines of text on it. As players are scurrying to build a chain of 7-11 cards the fastest, they will make snap decisions - and oversights! The first player to finish their chain announces the end of the round, then players examine their chains to see if their patterns are valid and no cards next to one another repeat in any category (color, number, or text). If a card does repeat, the player must remove it from their chain. The player with the longest chain after removing invalid cards takes the highest point card. After five rounds, the player who has racked up the most points wins. Game is for 2-6 players and lasts about twenty minutes. Game includes 80 color cards, 30-point cards, and instructions for play. ~ Janine
