Holt Science & Technology Life Science Homeschool Package
|Note:||Please check system requirements in description below prior to purchase.|
An example on a very elementary level would be cats, dogs, mammals, kitten, puppy. The student would begin with mammal at the top and branch off to cat and branch off to dog. Then under cat would be kitten and under dog would be puppy. I hope this makes sense.
This was the only need for the teacher book. However you will need the resource cd, which as your quizzes and tests on it. Along with all the answers to all of the work done by the student.
I hope that this helps you in your purchasing plans.

This year for my 7th grader we began our year with General Science and it was very hard to understand for our daughter. It was very wordy and more apologetic than I needed (even though I love combining Jesus and Science) and our daughter was dreading science each day.
So we began to look for a curriculum that would be used in public schools to see what a 7th grade level would look like. We found Holt Science and liked that it had a homeschool plan with it.
We have just finished Ch 2 and today she takes her test. She is enjoying the book and it is much easier for her to digest the material.
From a teacher standpoint, I like that there is a teacher text, so I can follow along with her as she reads. I like the Chapter Resource CD and all of the tests of different levels and the directed reading at different levels to work with. The directed reading worksheets have been a great way to work through the reading along with taking notes. The section and chapter reviews have been very helpful too. She aced her first test and has built up her confidence in Science. You can't dread science if your desire is to be a vet one day :-)
We aren't too far into the book yet, but so far it has transformed our time in science. As for it not being a Christian curriculum, I plan to use Christian science books to help us supplement when needed, so we can see God's view.
I really like the way the curriculum has direction for you with different student abilities. Those who are average, above, or have learning disabilities. There are chapter tests designed for each level and even have hands on test to display their knowledge. The directed reading has been so beneficial and the extra worksheets have be helpful as well.
We also purchased the lab DVD and so far we have watched one. It's a nice supplement if you don't have all of the supplies needed for a experiment. It's definitely not the same as doing the lab on your own, but you can see the results.
Right now I plan to get the Physical set for next year and my daughter and son can do it together, as she will be an 8th grader and he a 6th grader!
Simple, Direct, Challenging with the different levels of work, Customization for each student!
