Category Description for Spanish In A Flash

This program from Edupress introduces students to Spanish vocabulary words in a variety of ways. The best and most useful part is the great card sets, which were developed to help students learn basic Spanish vocabulary as easily as possible. Each set includes 100 flashcards, with two metal rings included to bind them together if necessary. One side of a card displays a full color photograph of something, with an English label beneath it. The opposite side of the card shows the same photograph with a Spanish label. The flashcards measure 4" x 2.5" and are color-coded by subject (for example, cards about colors are framed in green, cards about food are framed in yellow, etc.). Each set includes different vocabulary words, but the sets are all the same difficulty level and don't really build upon each other, so you can use them in any order. Each set also includes an insert with reproducible awards, a vocabulary chart of all the words included in the set, and a simple pronunciation guide. These are great, colorful flashcard sets to aid in the learning of basic Spanish vocabulary. Other Spanish in a Flash products are also available for fun add-ons, which correspond to the main flashcard decks. If you're looking to add some excitement and fun to learning these words, consider the corresponding Bingo Sets. Each game contains 36 bingo playing cards, 100 calling cards, and 500 square, yellow cardstock bingo chips. Game cards consist of 25 squares, each containing a colorful picture of some kind of object, with a Spanish label given directly beneath the picture. The game is played like traditional bingo, with a caller drawing calling cards and then reading the term given on the card. Players search for the Spanish term on their bingo card and cover it if they find it. The first player to cover five squares in a row is the winner. The cool thing about these bingo games is that they contain the same exact 100 vocabulary words included in the corresponding flashcard sets. For example, a card from Flashcard Set One displays a glass of milk and is identified in English on one side and Spanish on the other. Then, in Bingo Set One, a caller draws a card and reads "la leche" and players search for a graphic with the "la leche" label which appears with the same pictures as used in the flashcard set. Of course, the Bingo games can be played without the flashcard sets and students would eventually learn all 100 terms for each set by repeated playing, but the Bingo games are great for reinforcing the flashcards and adding some fun. Another fun add-on is the 32-page Word Search Books, which are entirely composed of the vocabulary words featured on the flashcard sets. Each book is full of basic word-search puzzles divided into the same categories as the flashcards and covering the same words. Each book also has a few review puzzles where different types of words are mixed together and a few vocabulary match-up worksheets to reinforce comprehension. A combination of all three of these resources assures that students are familiar with all 100 Spanish vocabulary words in no time - 300 words if you use all three sets! Set 1 of all the products includes Spanish words from the classroom, the body, colors, days of the week, family, food, numbers, and school. Set 2 includes clothing, expressions, feelings, the home, months, time, money, weather, and seasons. Set 3 includes animals, the city, hobbies, occupations, outside, sports, technology, and transportation. Whether you like flashcards, interactive bingo games, or fun word-search puzzles, these sets are helpful for learning basic Spanish vocabulary. ~ Rachel
