Let's Get This Day Started: Reading Grade 1
Start your day off right with quick, high-interest, reading passages that provide students with purposeful and accessible fluency and reading-comprehension practice. Designed to be flexible enough for daily or weekly use, choose from 85 fiction and nonfiction reading passages organized into 17 themed units. Each reading passage includes multiple-choice questions that challenge students to exercise a variety of reading skills and strategies. Each themed unit culminates with a writing activity that requires students to revisit and integrate information from the various texts in the unit. The passages and activities can be used to enhance student's reading proficiency throughout the school year. 112 pages.
What a lovely bell-ringer/warm up/morning basket activity! Each grade level book has a daily reading selection (fiction and non-fiction) followed by comprehension questions. You could read these together as a group and discuss your answers too. A written response at the end of the week asks the student to look back at the passages and respond creatively to a prompt. It’s just so practical. What a time saver for parents and classroom teachers! The topics are high-interest. Kids will want to know what they are reading tomorrow! Some examples include: Who Am I? (clues to an animal), a funny handwriting mishap over Ireland and island, nailing shoes to Elizabeth’s feet (she is a horse), and a comparison between the most flexible woman in the world and an octopus! There are 85 activities per consumable workbook. Reproducible for a single classroom/family. Perforated pages. 112 pgs, ~Sara
