Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

I had bought somewhere else, and was missing this.

Saxon is what I used while growing up. This method allows the student to build on what they learn. Other methods tend to move on once a task is learned.

I've been using Saxon all the way through from Kindergarten to now high school and have found it to be an excellent program for all of my children.

Necessary component to the Saxon Algebra 1 3rd Ed Homeschool curricula. We've used Saxon since the 4th grade and I have loved the Saxon method! Each school year started off with a review of previously covered material. Each day included facts practice, mental math and a critical thinking problem before the lesson was presented. Each lesson included a small set of problems to practice the lesson concept and a set of problems to review concepts previously covered. It has worked well for us.

I chose this so my 8th grader could get practice taking tests and getting grades for his math in preparation for high school next year when his grades will go on his transcript.
Sally V on Aug 8, 2018
After trying other math curricula for years and failing, I have finally switched to Saxon for good. I believe it is by far the most thorough math curriculum available.
Jessi F on Jun 20, 2018
Saxon is the BEST math curriculum out there...after having tried and failed with others. It is worth the tears and hard work!

Used to home school & still have Saxon textbooks. Kids are in public school now. My 8th grader loves math & is trying to study to get into advanced math classes when he starts high school next year. He prefers Saxon math over the math they are currently teaching. He likes that Saxon reviews old lessons in the daily work. Public school does not do that.

I don't usually administer the Saxon tests, but there aren't very many lessons in the algebra 1 book (only 120, with no investigations), so I decided to use the tests

Does this include answer key?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. It’s just the test forms. The answers to problems in the book and the tests are found in the homeschool packet booklet.
For Algebra 1 3rd edition, are the answers to the test included in the booklet? I already have the text book and solutions manual.
User on Nov 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, that is only the test. You need to purchase the Algebra 1 book that says 'Homeschool Packet' in the top right corner. This booklet has the test solutions (the problem worked out with answers) and the regular lesson answers (answers only, not worked out.)

Are the answers to the tests included in the test booklet? If not where are the answers? I have the solution manual and text book.
A shopper on Nov 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The answers were not in the test booklet and also not in the solutions manual. That was an unpleasant surprise as I had tests to correct and couldn't find the solutions. I ended up borrowing an answer key from my friend. I think it's odd that Rainbow can't tell you where the test solutions are. That's sonething they need to include in their product description. I think the test solutions must be in the answer key. Call and talk to someone before you order. Good luck!
