Publisher Description:

This text uses a "biographical" approach to teach United States history by looking at the impact of its chief founders and builders. From the early Viking explorers to the 2008 presidential election, students learn about famous Americans and American history.

In its history books, Christian Liberty Press often emphasizes the influence of God in the lives of men in shaping our nation. True to this tradition, Exploring American History focuses on people in relating the events of our country's past. Stimulating stories from the lives of more than 30 men will appeal to and be remembered by middle elementary children. Updated edition covers Viking exploration through the 2008 presidential election. Comprehension questions are given at the end of each chapter. A great value from Christian Liberty.

As part of My Father's World curriculum. I'm piecing it together because I already owned many of the package items.

I loved how it was written. I was looking for a book that I could read to my daughter since she loves to learn in story time. We have been using the story of the world and I wanted something similar to it for US history.

The excerpt I read was interesting and kept my attention, which seemed better than most history textbooks. At 10 years old, I don't expect her to become an expert.

We just finished volume 1 and these books give a clear and accurate depiction of history, that I feel complete confidence that the children are getting a balanced view of their history.

Famous people approach
I liked this book and how it focused on people. We got it because my grandaughter decided she didn't like AOP history. We tried this for a few days, but she asked to do AOP again instead.

We are using this softbound textbook this year Although I had originally thought that this would be about American history only (not about its key people defining events) I find it is a great character read It contains short chapters on Christopher Columbus William Penn Benjamin Franklin Thomas Jefferson and Ronald Reagan amongst many others At the end of each chapter are some questions Only complaintNO color! I mean who doesn't like a bit of that?
