Sigurd is a young boy who lived during the time of the ancient Vikings. He is expected to be adventuresome and rugged, so his father teaches him to be courageous and strong. Sigurd has heard of Wineland, a land far across the sea, and he longs to go there himself. Finally, his father permits him to set sail on a voyage to the land. The trip is long and perilous, and Sigurd will need to summon all his father has taught him to make it through the journey alive. Black and white sketches illustrate the book. 118 pgs. ~ Rachel S.
