TMA Basic of Technology and Automation Course - DVD Set
Teach Me Automation’s Basic Technology and Automation Course will teach a Middle School (on up) student the basics of technology and automation systems used in society today. This course covers aspects of all 4 areas of S.T.E.M. educational material.
Summary of topics:
Technology, Analog, Mechanics, Flow, Voltage, Electricity, Digital, Pneumatics, Inductance, Current, Electronics, Communications, Hydraulics, Capacitance, Force, Controls, Automation, Pressure, Impedance, Safety & Security
The course covers 8 lessons broken into 28 lectures in all with a running length of 30-45 minutes each. The last lecture is a final review that also covers opportunities for those students who are interested in continuing in technology related fields. This course will help a student know if they truly have an interest in technology-related fields. For the student who is already interested in this area, the student will develop the basic skills and understanding to further their experience in a technical field. The course is taught by two experienced technology professionals with over sixty years of combined experience in their fields. These two gentlemen are homeschooling dads who love the Lord so you can count on a course that is fun and presented from a perspective not found in many other places. The course includes use of the material for any number of students plus access to one final exam. If a student passes the final exam, Teach Me Automation will issue a completion certificate. A Student and Parent guide in .pdf format will be available for download as well. Course includes a Lab Kit which will be sent by Teach Me Automation, LLC
Once this course is purchased – material is accessed through the DVD pack that is shipped to the student’s home while additional material is accessed through our Website.
NOTE: A hands on Lab kit can be purchased separately through Amazon – see our Website.
All aspects of the world are becoming more technical, so our curriculum choices should prepare students to contribute in this area. Instructor Tim Whalen took this challenge to heart. With his professional background in automation and technology, and his desire to glorify God, Tim put together this course to give students a solid introduction to automation. Wide-ranging in its presentation, it covers electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic systems used in homes, factories, buildings and stores. Tim also ties the underlying engineering principles of physics and chemistry to these systems. Algebra 1 is a prerequisite. The same course is available in two formats – online or a set of 19 DVDs with downloadable parent & student guides. The eight lessons are presented in 28 lectures. A lab kit for use with the lab activities is also included with both DVD and online formats. Since this is a real high school elective, a final exam and quizzes are included. Additional final exams for more than one student taking the course are also available (at extra cost). The course appears to be well-designed, interesting, and visually appealing. The program will certainly encourage students with interests in technical fields.
