Mom's horrible handwriting inspired us to use an italic handwriting program with our kids. It's difficult not to produce at least legible writing in Italics. Another plus is that manuscript flows into cursive - letters don't completely change, they just join. Not only does this seem sensible to us, but the many compliments the children have received on their handwriting have further encouraged us in this approach. (Children begin moving into cursive writing in Level C.) The last level gets into calligraphy toward the end. From there, follow up with a good calligraphy book for Jr. High/High School and continue handwriting as an art form! Instruction Manual applies to all levels.

Going to try this handwriting curriculum for some remedial handwriting work for my middle and highschool age boys--cursive really never stuck with them but I want them to have nice legible handwriting that also flows fairly quickly for the purposes of essay writing in highschool, SAT's, etc.

I used this curriculum growing up. It was simple and fun. The transition from print to cursive was logical and flowed well. There are no extraneous loops or swirls. I have had many compliments over the years on the legibility of my writing, even when I am writing fast and sloppily (for me).

We've used these workbooks for our entire homeschooling career. I have been happy with the results. The key is to do a certain amount of time each day (15-20 minutes) not the amount of handwriting (2-6 lines).

Love, love, love this writing curriculum!! My children have beautiful printing and cursive handwriting...without any tears!! In hindsight, choosing this curriculum was an excellent choice that I would certainly do again.

Good, but got too small for my daughter
We've used all these books up to E, but even though she's 11, the writing got too small in the 2nd half of the book. She struggled to write neatly with the smaller font. So we are taking a break from it, and doing practice with an additional cursive book (presidents), with beginner cursive (the advanced cursive has small font, also)

Simple method to teach
These books do most of the teaching for you! The style is simple and easy to learn and the handwriting produced is very nice.
