Product Description:

A masterful account of this most amazing American. "A biography of Franklin written with a sweep and verve worthy of its subject and brilliantly illustrated." The New Yorker. This superb biography of the printer, statesman, author, reformer, inventor and ambassador reveals a Benjamin Franklin who in his time lived more lives than many men together. The brilliance and inexhaustible ingenuity of mind that fascinated his contemporaries continues to charm us now in Daugherty's work of perhaps America's most distinguished citizen and most interesting human being. Here is an understanding of the Poor Richard that underlay all Franklin's life, through honors and distinctions, foreign and domestic, saying with shrewd Yankee economy: "Well done is better than well said." As with all of Daugherty's books, his illustrations of two- and three-color compliment the meaty text for the enjoyment of all. (description by Beautiful Feet)

Category Description for Beautiful Feet History & Geography:

Beautiful Feet curriculum takes a multi-level, living book approach to teaching history, geography and world cultures, using easy to use Guides for the teacher and engaging, well-written literature for the student. The Guides provide book lists, chapter readings, discussion and research questions, background information, website links, answer keys, and more. See our website for lists of literature resources to accompany each guide. Most guides provide content for one year of study, with the exception of Geography through Literature and Western Expansion. The latter two are recommended to be completed together for one year of study. Numbers of lessons vary, and are scheduled 1 to 4 days per week. Recommended Timelines are available individually or in a set of two. Timelines are cardstock and include the figures referenced in the study. Students will need to color, cut and assemble the timeline and figures. History and geography come alive with these well done literature guides. See our website for required books for each guide. Some guides and resources contain Christian content while others do not; contact us for additional information.

Good book, though some funny bits in the writing
Granted they couldn't include anything, but sometimes if gives some info in passing as though it's referring back to something already told- but it's not. It gives quite a bit in this passing fashion (like his electrical experiments). And sometimes I found a bits a bit overly confusing. We read old books, so this isn't coming from someone that's used to easy modern reading. It was fine, in the end, but if I had handed it over to be ready independently I'm sure some facts would have been missed. But then, that's okay too :)
