I have used Lifepacs before homeschooling my children and find them well laid out, thorough, and appealling. As there are many Hispanic people migrating to this country, I feel I would benefit from learning Spanish.

I have heard good things about Lifepac Spanish 1, and Rosetta Stone Homeschool Edition has not been a good fit for my son this year. We need a workbook style program; hopefully this will do the trick!

We did not like BJUs Spanish at all, though we finished it. Planning to redo Spanish 1 with Lifepac as a review at a faster pace and then move on to the Spanish 2 set.

I was comparing this to rosetta stone homeschool and price, ease of use, and credentialed program seemed to tip the scale toward this. Looking forward to using it!

After hours researching which Spanish program to get for my 9th grader, we decided to go with this program. It seems straight forward and that's what we want. My husband is from South America so we really didn't need something complex as he will be able to help us out if we get stuck. The price is right with this program as well!

Is this Spanish course secular? TIA!
Dana on Feb 10, 2021
BEST ANSWER: we truthfully did not use much of this curriculum; we only really got into the first workbook. Although I cannot speak to all of its content, I will say I chose this based on input from those that I trust within my Christian homeschool community.
Does this contain instruction on writing-conjugation of words and sentence structure or is it geared more toward speaking only?
A shopper on Aug 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is writing translating and speaking. Just like a regular high school spanish curriculum. There is also extra assignments you can choose to add or not for reinforcement. A very well rounded Spanish 1 curriculum. I used it for my 15 and 16 year old. We are using the Spanish 2 this year, then French 1 and 2. Very happy with the AOP lifepacs
how many highschool credit hours
is this?
A shopper on May 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Spanish I Lifepacs provide 1 credit (full-year) in high school Spanish.
How essential are the CD's for the course? Are they just a pronunciation guide or do they contain additional material not found in the lifepacs?
User on Feb 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The cds are absolutely essential. They are a part of each lesson in the student workbook. Part is for pronunciation, but there are a lot of activities where the student listens to the cd and has to answer questions, or translate from the listening. It adds another level of learning besides just seeing it on paper. Hope that helps!
auditoryIs there a Spanish and English dictionary that is recommended? Also, Will the CD's be helpful with pronunciation of the word. We were leaning towards SOS just for hearing the spanish words but Lifepacs have a better review. Just wondering which curriculum would be better for a auditory learner, or are they both good?

Spanish I Boxed Set with CDs
Switched-On Schoolhouse Spanish Levels 1 & 2
Switched-On Schoolhouse Spanish Levels 1 & 2
BEST ANSWER: Content-wise, Lifepacs and SOS are the same. Both have the same auditory element - one through audio CDs and one through the computer. Both use the same textual content. Both have the same response-type of questions but the difference is completing a workbook or answering questions on the computer. The main difference between the two is that SOS provides grading and grade-tracking while with Lifepacs you and/or your student will have to do the grading.
May I use this Spanish program for more than one homeschool student?
A shopper on Jun 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You would need to buy an extra set of the 10 Lifepacs for each student. These are consumable and where the student does all of their work. It is the lesson/workbook combined. The Teacher's Guide and cds can be shared.
Is this compatible with Macs?
A shopper on Apr 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, as long as your Mac has a disk player, it should be. We have found it compatible with our Mac.
Does this set contain everything I will need for this course or do additional materials need to be purchased?
A shopper on Feb 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes the boxed set has everything. You might want to buy a Spanish-English dictionary and notecards for creating flash cards and review games listed in the teacher's manual (included in the set).

My daughter just finished the first unit. So far we are very happy with this curriculum. It challenges her but she finds it fun and engaging. The audio CDs really help with comprehension and understanding.

So far, so good
My high school daughter is enjoying the program so far, a few weeks into it. Seems easy to navigate, to listen to, and to score, though I'm not fluent in Spanish. Combined with its affordable price, and I am very satisfied with this curriculum!
