Category Description for Math-It:

Math-It actually consists of several different learning drill "games"- called "Addit," "Dubblit," and "Timzit" accompanied by audio CD instructions, the Math-It Guide Book and a very helpful guide entitled “How Stevie Learned His Math.” It includes the inspiring story of how the author used these same techniques to teach a young boy how to master addition and multiplication. The guides are both on CD-ROM, in .pdf format. The games use pre-punched sets of color coded cards and boards to place them on. By practicing with these (using techniques described in the book) until they are mastered (able to be easily placed in less than a minute), children learn their facts cold. The ‘extras’ in the last chapter in the book go beyond the basics, giving fourteen more useful activities and mental tricks to increase math prowess. The additional student pack contains all the cards, storage envelopes, instructions and the playing surface for Addit, Dubblit and Timzit. Helpful if your original set has seen better days and you still have children left to go through the program.

Category Description for Math-It Program:

Wonderful activity-based program to help your kinesthetic learner master the facts! A combination of mental math "tricks" (ie, to add nine to any number, count one back and add "teen") or shortcuts and hands-on drill. These really work. After going through the various levels, your student should have those facts and shortcuts to basic operations down cold!

We've had it years ago and it seemed to help facts stick.

Carole Joy Seid recommended it. And, since we use Math-U-See already, I thought this would make a good supplement. Also, I thought this program would coincide well with my child's learning style. I have been wanting to try it for a long time and would like to start it this fall.

I had great success with Math-It in the past, but gave my copy away when I thought I was done teaching. Now I'm working with another crop of students and want to add this back into my tool kit.

This product was recommended by a fellow homeschooling mom who uses it with her Math-U-See curriculum to reinforce math facts. I plan to use it with Singapore math, doing add-it after level 1B.

I used this program growing up. Now that I'm a teacher, I wanted something to help my students master these concepts and my mind immediately recalled this. I recommend it highly.

I have heard of this program from other homeschoolers and find that my kids learn best with game based learning. We look forward to using it to increase speed and accuracy of basic math skills. I hope it lives up to the recommendations.

Math-It was recommended by the homeschool group that I'm in. It was well worth the money. I used it to complement Math-U See which we also love. It is good to pull out every once in awhile to keep the kids up on their math facts.

I used this item when I was a child to learn adding and subtracting. At 38, I still use the methods today to accomplish simple math. I work as a math tutor and I plan to incorporate the Math It kit into my tutoring sessions. This is an excellent tool for learning math!

I remember using this program as a child, and it worked for me. I have tried all sorts of math facts programs, including online games, for my dyslexic son, but nothing has helped. I'm going back to this oldie-but-goodie for him. I think it might be the ticket, since it involves spacial and physical movement rather than just rote visual memory.

does this work on subtraction as well?
A shopper on Apr 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, not directly. It does talk about ways to help with subtraction, but there are not games that directly work on it. It comes with a guide that says "#7 Now you have mastered your addition facts. Read How Stevie Learned His Math (or listen to the CD that comes with it) and see how to use these facts rapidly in all adding and subtracting."
I am working on Addit with one child and Timzit with another. We are impressed with the program and don't even really use it they way they suggest...I mean to say we take a much more relaxed approach.
I'm working with a small group of students. Will I need to buy extra student packs?
A shopper on Dec 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If the students are working in teams, it would be possible to use only one set of student materials. If you would like students to work independently, they will need their own set of student materials.
Does the MAth It book for $72 have student work sheets?
A shopper on Aug 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Math It program does not provide worksheets. Instead, math facts are learned through a series of games utilizing small cards and memory "tricks".
Is it recommended to laminate the game boards/ cards? How do they hold up after repeated use?
A shopper on Mar 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It’s not recommended to laminate. The pieces and game boards hold up just fine. We’ve had no trouble with ours and we’ve had it for over a year.
I have the MATH-IT kit, but why doesn't the program include subtraction facts? Should I use something else for subtraction facts?
A shopper on Sep 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have combined this program with Math-u-see and for extra practice xtramath.
Once the kids get really good at addition subtraction comes much easier. Math It helps with memorizing the math facts but it's nice to have the theory and application practice to know why we use it. That is where another math program comes in handy. I use Math-u-see and love it but there are a lot of other great ones out there. Xtramath (online) is there to help with math facts and it also goes over subtraction.
Do you need to purchase the student pack if you buy the Math-it program?
A shopper on Oct 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, you do not need to purchase the student pack separately from the Math-It program. It is complete with AddIt, DoubleIt, and TimzIt cards and boards. The additional student pack is a replacement if your packs get worn out or lost.

Get it!
I bought this based on the (high) recommendations of Carole Joy-Seid. I never would have purchased it based on the price if not for her glowing review and insistence that it was well worth it. I am in complete agreement! It IS expensive...I won't say overpriced because it has been worth it to us. I love that they don't have to write their facts but still SEE them in written format every single day. It also is a huge help to the parent with presenting a pattern to guide the child through the progression of math facts. WAY better than flashcards! Worth every penny...I will pass on to grandchildren, God willing.

This seems like a good alternative to memorizing your math facts. I do think this is WAY overpriced. I only got this out of desperation...not sure yet if this will be just what we need, but definitely has some good ideas in it.

I bought Math-It a month ago and my ds10 has improved greatly using the Addit & Dubbit game He is now practicing the Timzit I am also using it with a 6 7 & 8 yr old and they too are improving with those facts! As for me I knew my facts but always had to count fast in my head and I didn't know all of my multiplication facts After a week I can do all my Addit in 21 seconds and I now know all my multiplication facts down cold No more embarrassing moments for me :)This is a five star in my book and worth every penny!
