English Grammar Recitation from Memoria Press is built on memorizing and drilling grammar rules. Each book covers a series of rules. This set of cards (3.5”x 2.5”) provides all the rules from all five workbooks in one place. There are rules for capitalization (10), punctuation (15), and 150 grammar facts. The front of each card gives the recitation task (i.e. Give c and d of the 5 difficulties in finding the subject, with examples.). The back of the card lists the rule(s) which are the correct response to the task. Another type of card lists an example on one side with the rule on the reverse side. These cards supplement the daily drill which is the chief characteristic of this approach to grammar.

I doubt Im the only one who is happy that Memoria Press has decided to publish their version of classical English grammar. In typical MP style user-friendly and to the point this seriesprovides the essentials with style, simplicity, and thoroughness. Each consumable Student Book includes the two-page lessons plus reviews that comprise each course; a straight-forward and simple planfor repetitive, consistent instruction. Lessons are built around capitalization, punctuation, and grammar rules: added one or two at a time. The student recites any review rules, then recites and copies out a new rule or two. Then two sets of exercises follow that reinforce the new rule(s) before ending the lesson with more review-of-rules recitation.
Each lesson suggests a five-day plan. Day 1 (full grammar recitation, punctuation, and capitalization rules presented thus far and new material taught and copied) might take a full hour. Workbook exercises on Day 2 might take 30 minutes with the remaining three days taking only 5-10 minutes per day. These days include dictated examples of various rules and more recitation. Quizzes or tests are on Day 5.
Recitation rules are included in the back of the Student Book. The Teacher Key is an exact replica of the Student Book with answers provided.
Book 1 Lesson Plans are available in one- and two-year pacing schedules. Formatted similarly, both offer a grid check off box for 33 weeks. The one-year pacing schedules grammar lessons daily and the two-year pacing schedules grammar 3 days per week. Review Box instructions and cards are included with the one-year pacing guide. Spiral bound.
