Category Description for Developing the Early Learner:

So many homeschoolers have asked us what they can do with a preschool-age child that is more than just busy-work. This is it! We've used the Developing the Early Learner series with our children and could really see the difference they made in our children's mental aptitudes. A favorite feature of mine are the exercises that work on left to right tracking skills at a young age. I can see where this could prevent later confusion in reading. Exercises concentrate on four fundamental perception skill areas; visual, auditory, motor, and comprehension. Even more exciting, all of our children loved these exercises. They weren't "work" at all, but fun, and they always wanted to do more! Their favorites were the auditory exercises that required careful listening, remembering, and following directions.Yes, they worked wonderfully with my children.

My three year old is ready to do school with his older brother but I learned with my eldest that pushing them into handwriting too fast (even when they know letter names/sounds) will lead to great frustration as fine motor skills just aren't developed yet. I am hoping this prepares him for writing/reading without frustrating him.

This was a GREAT program for my now 7 year old, and I'm buying it again from my 4 year old and my 4 year old niece!

I have used these for a few children already. They help with pre reading skills that enable them to begin phonics better equipped to learn the sounds and symbols more effectively.

This is a great supplementary resource for the young learner. It provides a great overall view of the student's strengths and weaknesses in different learning areas (make sure to use the chart in the back of the book to track this!).

I'm using the Sonlight Pre-K curriculum that we purchased second hand without these workbooks. This was the most affordable deal I could find for this particular book. Thank you!

We used Developing the Early Learner with my son at the start of our homeschooling experience. He enjoyed them, and the books gave him a great start to learning to read.

I want to help my nephew learn these things before he goes to school. A friend who home schools her children highly recommended this book.

I have used this series with my other four children. Now that my almost-four- year old wants to "do school", I'm starting in with this workbook. This series really does help grow a child's perception and awareness.

I have a bright 2 year old that is wanting to do "school" like his big brother and sister. These workbooks are great for getting him ready.

Used this previously with another child & he loved the challenges of the book. Now have a precocious preschooler and I think she also will thrive on the activities presented.

I think critical thinking skills are severely overlooked in school. It's just rush, rush, rush to get everyone reading as quickly as possible.

I bought this book to help lay a foundation for reading, writing, math etc...

great addition to our homeschool

I used these workbooks with my oldest and they helped bring together some concepts I wasn't quite sure how to explain or practice. I really enjoyed the black and white (less distraction), although I did have to explain what some of the illustrations were as some are dated.

My son is autistic. I am bringing him home mid-year. I used with with some of my other children and I think it will be a good tool, both to assess where he's at right now, and to help him learn how to follow directions. It will also be good for him to have some successes.

Fun for my 4 year old who begs to do school work like her older brother. I love how it isn't like other typical workbooks for this age which ask for a lot of writing (words) I'm fine with coloring. She likes the little bugs that shows up on a page every now and then.

Great resource!
We use this with our Sonlight curriculum and love it. Starts simple and continues to get more difficult. My 3 1/2 year old loves doing it each day and asks to do more. Very simple instructions on the top of the pages so they can understand what to do. Love it!
