Child's Garden of Bible Stories
The time-honored classic Bible storybook by this same name was originally published in 1948. Based on the premise that children should know the Bible stories as early as possible, this edition has been updated in language particularly for readers ages 6 to 8. Key points are explained in a way that preserves the story but does not include aspects that are age inappropriate. For example, when discussing the reason for Joseph's imprisonment, the author writes, "Then the wife of the rich man became angry at Joseph. She told lies about him. Her husband believed the lies and put Joseph in prison." Sixty stories (28 from the Old Testament and 32 from the New), each about two pages long, incorporate traditional style, full-color illustrations. The Old Testament stories span from creation through Daniel. The New Testament stories focus only on the Gospels and end with Jesus' ascension. This would serve as a good introduction to Bible stories. 6" x 8 ¼", 142 pp, hc. ~ Ruth
