Publisher Description:

This one–semester health course for high school students is designed to provide them with an understanding of important health issues and to help them make wise choices.

Total Health encompasses all facets of health (spiritual, physical, mental, and social) written from a Christian perspective. Three components are available: teacher edition, student book, and test/quiz book. Content is on the conservative side. Little space is wasted on drug abuse or reproduction; the book tends to accentuate the positives, such as health, fitness, and nutrition. Medical discussions take a down-the-middle approach and assume you will visit a M.D., not a homeopath. Dating is considered acceptable, although group dating is encouraged. Above all, our relationship with God is given high priority, making this a "healthy" alternative to some secular counterparts.

The student text is softcover and includes the reading material, as well as end-of-chapter questions, explanation questions, discussion questions and suggested activities. The teachers edition includes topics to discuss each lesson, lists of additional resources, worksheets, activities, and more. Please note the supplemental materials CD is not included in the teacher edition anymore, it is now available online. Student and teacher (with answers) versions of the worksheets are included in the teachers edition. The test/quiz book contains tests and quizzes for each chapter, both with and without answers, for easy correction. The test/quiz book is not reproducible.

This was recommended to me from a friend. She thought it was well rounded and had what she needed out of it. She also paired this with "I Kissed Dating Goodbye".

Can I just get by with the teachers guide since it contains the worksheets, or do I really need the student text and quiz and test text too?
A shopper on Sep 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The student text does include some reading material not included with the teacher edition.

You could conceivably get by without the quiz and test book.
Is this a full high school credit health curriculum?
A shopper on Aug 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you teach through the whole book it will serve as a full high school credit. It is outdated, so the teacher will have to supplement information, otherwise it is a good Christian textbook.
is this the 2005 version?
A shopper on Jun 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, however the publisher informs us that "all Total Health books are compatible from 1999 to present.  We have changed covers several times, and updated typos, but no major updates have been done."
How do they address dating ?
A shopper on May 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In Unit 3 on Social Health, the last chapter is on Changing Relationships. Dating is covered in this chapter with an introduction to the discussion indicating it should be something discussed with parents and guidelines established. coverage includes group dating and planning a date. The general approach is conservative Christian.

VERY OUTDATED - NEEDS UPDATING!!!
As I'm trying to plan, I'm realizing how outdated this teacher edition is! There are references to VCRs, camcorders, and overhead transparencies. YIKES! The student worksheets are in this guide at the end of each chapter. Overall, this teacher guide is just not user-friendly and hard to work with.
