This series, published by The Princeton Review, a respected name in education, is intended for parents who want to help their child succeed academically. Each book covers reading and math concepts your child will need for success at that grade level.
Each book is divided into chapters, each covering a different concept. Within the chapters parents will find the skill to be taught, tips and advice for parents, a list of needed supplies, exercises to be completed along with an answer key, notes about characteristics of children at that grade level, and activities. There are also website references and tips for study skills. Exercises vary and may include matching, multiple choice, drawing pictures to finish a story, fill-in-the-blank, and short answer; these exercise pages aren't reproducible. Activities at each level involve a number of different skills such as reading & writing, playing games, arts & crafts, storytelling, etc. Students shouldn't get bored with the variety.
If you're a parent who wants to make sure you're covering all the bases in reading and math grades 1-4, add this to your curriculum. It will only take a few minutes a day, longer if you choose to do more of the activities. Each book is about 275 pages in length, with pages for notes at the back. Pb. ~ Donna
