finally something made sense to her
I tried a few other math programs and my own trying to wing it but the explanations and activities in this package are finally clicking. The main focus of level 1a is number sense which was our biggest struggle after 3 weeks using it as outlined in the guide all the pieces are coming together.

Wonderful introduction
This book set is a great introduction to elementary math. I particularly enjoy the Home Instructor's Guide, which contains common sense explanations to help this non-mathy parent teach the concepts capably.

Excellent basic math set
The set includes a teacher's manual, textbook (color pictures) and workbook (black and white) for one student. If you have more than one student, order additional workbooks. This set takes students from not knowing how to count to ten, all the way up to adding numbers within 20, by easy steps with lots of practice. It's important to read the instructions each week in the teacher's manual, because the manual includes a lot of concrete activities that you should do with the student before having them do the associated workbook pages.

We need a program that helps my son “see” math and helps it click. After lots and lots of researching we decided to try this one.

After reading dozens of reviews, my husband (a secondary math teacher) was most impressed with Singapore Primary Math's emphasis on higher-ordered thinking.

i like how singapore teaches gradually using the mastery approach. seems doable and instructor guide makes everything clear enough. i'm not a math person but i think i can do this.

I wanted a hands on, advanced, but simple math program that didn't have too much required busywork

I've read this is one of the best math programs for teaching children the "why" (or concepts) behind the math. I've heard this program teaches children the actual math concepts, not just math memorization and facts. I hope this program really does all this and I wanted to see for myself. I will add a review after my daughter and I get started with this program.

I've used Singapore math for Kindergarten and really liked it, now we're ready to move into the Primary 1A book.

I have previous experience with homeschool students using this program, and it has shown over and over again to be a consistently fantastic way of approaching math.

I chose Singapore math for my 6 year old because I want her to learn math concepts as well as step memorization. I want to use this curriculum for teaching "mental math."

My daughter did great with the Singapore Math Essential Math Kindergarten A and B, so we are continuing on with the next level. I really like working through it with her - I like the sequence.

I chose Singapore as our main math curriculum with some fear, as I was taught math in a more "traditional" way, and personally, math is one of my weaker subjects. There was a learning curve in figuring out how to present many concepts (the Home Instructor's Guide was crucial for me), but I feel like my children are getting a very deep understanding of numbers and how to manipulate them, which is what my hope was in purchasing Singapore as our math curriculum.

It seems simple to use.

How long does it take to work through 1a? A full school year? Half?
A shopper on Jul 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Depends on your child's level when he/she starts. My child finished 1A within 3 months. I think the standard is half a semester which is about 5 months.
