Great Spelling Curriculum!
My second grade son was reading very well but struggling with spelling. This curriculum is really helping to reinforce the spelling rules and improve his spelling skills. I purchased level one and two and am very happy with them!

Very thorough program!
Great spelling program. It’s great that everything is explained why words are or aren’t spelled a certain way. That’s how my son learns he needs facts and rules. I see great results with my struggling speller. The lessons can be a bit time consuming but can be adjusted if the student grasps the lesson quickly. I’m looking forward to moving on to level 3 as we will be shortly wrapping up level 2. It’s a bit expensive but worth every penny.

Great curriculum
My kids look forward to spelling and really enjoy this curriculum. Level 2 builds on to level one and reviews what was covered in previous lessons to keep it all fresh in the kids minds. I like that this curriculum doesn’t just have the kids memorize the words, but introduces spelling rules and teaches how words should be spelled according to the rules.

Just not for us.
I gave this a 2 star rating because it didn’t work for our large family. I like the way it teaches and all that it teaches.
It definitely fills in some gaps for spelling from what language arts isn’t covering. It didn’t work for us because it’s not simple enough. The hands on tiles where a huge distraction for my kids. And the tiles fall off and get lost. I just don’t have the time to give the subject that much one on one with each child- that is saved for math and writing.
We are a family of 4 homeschoolers .

Good program, Student materials feel wasteful
We're almost through the second book of this series, and heading into our third book. The student materials for this program include flash cards, a few extra sheets of "word banks" for the student to read, and some tags to mark the syllables, as well as a completion chart and stickers to mark your progress (which honestly is great for my kindergartner with their reading program, but my 8 year old who uses this program is beyond star charts). We use the tiles (part of the initial start-up kit), an we use the syllable tags, but the rest of the cards have proven useless for us. Not only is it cumbersome to actually tear out all of these cards and put them in order, but we have yet to actually use them. The same exact lists are in the teacher manual, and I find it much easier to use the teacher manual than to shuffle the cards. We will continue to use this program, but I think I'll start only purchasing the teacher guide and leaving the student materials out of it.

Level 1 has been great! My son (7 yrs) has really taken to it and I can see that he applies the rules he has learned thus far to his spelling and the concepts that have not yet been covered, he will use inventive spelling. I am looking forward to him learning more. And even though I am a pretty good speller, I am enjoying learning more in depth why certain rules are followed. Great program!

Love it! This program has worked wonders for my son. He has inattentive ADD and struggles to remember how to spell words as in the past he always tried to memorize how to spell them. This program breaks out everything by phonetic sounds. He is actually figuring out how to spell words now by sound when writing in other subjects.

I liked the write up and reviews. Also, when I ordered Level 1, for a struggling speller asking his mom for help, I spoke with some at Rainbow Resource that had used this program for her struggling speller. Really felt this was a God thing confirming my choice. Pretty excited to get started.

Love the super easy short lessons. Only 24 steps, which is great so that we can do this curriculum twice in one year!!!. I am very confident that by using this curriculum she will become an excellent speller!
super easy yet super good!!!

I have a third grader. We've been using Spelling Power, which is ok, but I'm thinking about switching. Could we start with Level 2, or would we need to begin with Level 1? She currently spells at a late second grade/early third grade level.
User on Jan 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I started a 3rd grader on this program this year. I bought the student materials for Level 1 and spent a few weeks making sure he had mastered the phonograms and key cards (spelling rules) for that level. Then we went right into Level 2. This approach worked well for us. We reaped the benefits of beginning at the beginning without spending too much time on easy concepts below his instructional level.
Does this have the magnets needed to teach this level?
A shopper on Oct 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No it doesn’t. You have to order an Interactive kit to go along with it - either Item #050469 or Item#050470.
