Description

If you are looking for creative ways to develop students' arithmetic skills, this game is a wonderful option! It uses patterns (number frames) to represent each numeral so that number relationships can be seen in a different light that cannot otherwise be seen by the written numeral. The game is fast and easy. Start by placing all the stackable frames in number groups from 1-10. Players begin by rolling the two large foam dice with different number frames on them. They will then take the number frames that match the numbers on their dice (if they roll a 3 and a 5, they take the 3 tile and a 5 tile). As soon as they make a combination that adds to 10, this will be their base. They can continue to stack on their base frames. The player with the highest stack wins. This ten-frame based activity enables children to visualize a number, recognize if it's odd or even, and see its related number bond to 10. There are also variations to the game and extra learning activities included in the activity guide.
