Description
Turning the usage of dictionaries completely on its head, this beautiful reference book breaks down and defines everyday (and not-so-everyday) subjects in full-color glory. Each page presents one or more illustrated objects, with individual parts highlighted and defined. For example, in the section on the respiratory system, a cross-section of a “lung" takes up the center of the page, along with its definition. Surrounding the picture are 8 parts of the lung, their definitions, and arrows to their relevant place in the illustration. Simpler topics, such as articles of clothing, are given smaller, individual illustrations. While the structure is superb, the impeccable format and organization of this edition makes everything that much easier to understand. Readers are sure to find relevant material across the 18 chapters and dozens of sub-sections. Overall, an excellent resource for students, writers, and visual learners!
