These instructional videos are expensive, but worth it. My daughter watches the video first, then does the reading, which has more details. Seeing the video first causes the reading to make more sense; therefore, it has more interest and is given more focus.

I was so exited to see that they have the DVD to help out with the teaching, can not wait to try them

I plan to teach the labs at co-op and will study the DVD beforehand.

I teach A&P at our Christian school to juniors and seniors. The book is wonderful, but the video instruction will help my reluctant learners get the most possible out of the course.

can this work with 1st edition as well?

BEST ANSWER: I'll list below some of the differences in the two editions. I think it might be possible to use the 2nd edition Instructional DVD with a 1st editon book but I think you will need to be flexible and be prepared to make adaptations.

Both the first and second edition contains 16 modules and they are designed to be completed in 2 weeks. Module 11 has been renamed in the 2nd edition (Cardiovascular system as compared to the Circulatory system). The books do use a different coloring book. The 2nd edition has a less chatty "feel" compared to the first ed. The 2nd edition also contains a welcome letter which incorporates Bible verses and a connection to the Creator. The introduction contains similar information but it has been rearranged.  The textual information is similar (and much is the same) although some areas have been expanded and clarified. There are also “Think about This” and “Heart of the Matter” boxes sprinkled throughout the 2nd edition text that focus on general experience and Christian worldview/scripture verses (NIV and NLT). Many of the “On Your Own”, Study Guide and Test questions are the same. A few of the questions have been reworded but ask essentially the same information.  The 2nd edition contains a link to a website with web based support materials arranged by module (password protected and included). The lab experiments appear to be the same as do the test questions except for the final one (Fetal Pig Dissection). In the 1st ed. there are several websites listed for multimedia tutorials as well as recommended books that will provide the step by step instruction. In the 2nd ed. there are 6 overview steps but no additional support included. These are not detailed instructions, but an overview of what should be found during the dissection.
do I still need a textbook or cd of the course, or is this enough by it self?

BEST ANSWER: You will need another source, either text or disc. The instructional video does not cover everything in the chapter. It highlights the chapters and shows the experiments. There are some things that are easier to understand in the text because there are fuller explanations, and some that the video can provide more info because it can show animations. I've used this both at homeschool and in the classroom. I recommend the student notebook for homeschool, it is a concise and complete way for the student to keep notes, also an excellent prep for college work. (It doesn't replace the textbook, though. )
