Focusing on number skills and numerical literacy, this course gives students solid experience with number theory and operations, statistical concepts, and geometric concepts and skills. Each of the 10 units contains 3-5 sections to complete. Each section ends with a self-test, which is great for review and each unit ends with a cumulative unit test. The Teacher’s Guide has the answers to all the sections, self-tests, unit tests, additional learning activities, and includes an Alternate Test for each unit. Calvert 3rd Grade Math provides a deeper understanding of basic math concepts and an introductory study of algebra and geometry. Ten comprehensive units set the foundation needed for advanced mathematics with lessons on multiplication, variables, fractions, area and perimeter, and measurements.

Since each self-paced unit can be completed in as little as three to four weeks, students experience a sense of accomplishment at the completion of each one! In addition, regular self tests and an end-of-unit test provide assessment of student progress. An essential teacher's guide is included to provide important teaching supplements, such as instructional notes and answer keys, as well as additional resources and activities.

Calvert Math provides a colorful, secular approach to math. Starting with teacher-student interaction in kindergarten, the courses progress towards the student working independently with all instruction written directly into the student worktexts. Pacing and coverage are traditional, while the methodology tends to be spiral. All materials have an engaging and appealing appearance. Preschool has one student workbook and resource book. Kindergarten has two student workbooks with oral tests given quarterly. Starting in Grades 1-5, a full-color, consumable, set of 10 worktexts contain 3-5 sections to complete. Each of the worktexts will take 3-4 weeks to finish, giving a total of 160-180 daily lessons that will take around 45 minutes each. Teacher Editions provide teacher helps, grading info, record-keeping sheets, alternate unit tests, daily lesson plans (only in K-1, w/reduced student pages), materials lists, optional learning activities, reproducible worksheets and alternate tests, and answer keys. Worktexts provide both textual material and written response space. Complete Sets include both Worktexts and Teacher Editions.
