Description

While this atlas comes in a mini size (4.25" x 5.3"), it still contains an impressive amount of maps and facts about the world. The first third of the book is composed of detailed maps of all the different continents and areas of the world. At first the maps are of entire continents and then they narrow in on specific countries, states, and areas. Standard items like bodies of water, cities, capitals, landforms, regions, etc. are labeled and many maps contain small captions that list historical events that happened in different areas on the map. The rest of the atlas is a "factfile" guide that shares statistics about the 195 countries of the world. For each country, the atlas includes another map of the area and information on geography, climate, people & society, and economy, and stats on date of formation, population, area, density, language, religions, ethnic mix, government, and currency. With 260 detailed maps and full coverage of the world's regions, this handy little atlas is a great reference to have around. 432 pgs, pb. ~ Rachel
