Great workbook for learning tools for writing
My 4th grader loves this book. It is teaching her several new elements of creative writing. I have been very pleased with both the content and its ability to keep my daughter interested.

I have 2 older children taking the IEW online and wanted this for my 4th grader. I am holding off a year before I sign her up for the online class.

Shipping is high.... maybe working on that a bit would help me to choose you again. Otherwise thanks for having it. it was out of stock or backordered on most other venues. But yeah, shipping is higher than would normally pay or what I have experienced for a book.

I love they way it is set up to give me a guideline and ideas but also room for our own families ideas and time to fit right with it instead of just trying to get everything on the paper poured into there brains, which is one of the reasons we educate our children at home to begin with.

Love IEW. Lots of work (for both student and parent), but well worth it!

I've heard great things about IEW. I'm working through the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style presently to get an understanding of the program. This fits the ages of my middle kids and looks interesting!

My older child is using a different IEW lesson, and the format is wonderful. My younger child will love this topic and learn how to write well.

What grade level is this best for? Would it be too much for a 3rd grade, wiggly boy who doesn't like writing?
A shopper on Apr 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used it to teach a co-op class of 22 students ages 8-9 (grades 3-4), and it was a perfect beginner writing fit. None of these students had formal writing instruction prior to the course and loved it, especially my wiggly boys! The pace is very slowed compared to the other IEW writing books, and the content is especially suited toward the boys, holding their interest throughout. Who doesn't like the stories of Aesop and especially Theseus and the Minotaur. I would definitely recommend it as a first start to IEW instruction because the lessons are very doable for the younger set. Keep in mind that with any IEW instruction parental coaching is a must to ensure student confidence and success.
Is this consumable?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure for certain the nature of your question. My daughters enjoyed the book, they used it for a homeschooling tutorial class and their writing did greatly improve and it was interesting to them. It is a year long curriculum. Perhaps you could be more specific if this doesn't answer your question.
Is the teacher manual available?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Teacher's Manual is available as a digital download from the publisher. There is information in this student's book on how to access the download.
Is this the 2nd edition, July 2014?
A shopper on Jul 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is the 2nd edition.
I had to look in the book...weird how it doesn't say on the cover.
