Description

We know students learn from projects, but where do you get ideas? This resource is a great place to start! Instructors will appreciate a book like this that has well-organized projects that are ready to go, and all with teacher guidance! It is also reproducible for your family or classroom. With a mix of written, oral and graphic (diagrams/murals/maps/charts) projects on a wide variety of history topics, you can use this project book over a couple years. All 52 lessons require the student(s) to do some amount of research. Some are best completed in pairs/groups, while others are more individual assignments. Students select a topic, do the research, follow the directions and complete the project. In the process they are using writing/speaking skills, critical thinking and cooperation. Brief instructions for the teacher/parent are in the front and then each project is on a single page for the student. Some projects include: design a city of the future, regional symbols on a map of the U.S., interview a recent immigrant for a Colonial newspaper, make a poster about the Gold Rush, compare two U.S. Presidents, and lots more. Some projects are focused on world history, but most have an American theme. ~Sara
