Seems like a comprehensive interesting account of US History. I will supplement with historical fiction.

My research indicates this is a solid backbone for a multi level American History curriculum.

I chose these items because I believe they will be the perfect "spine" for our US history study.
K S on Sep 30, 2016
Because we are planning on using Sonlight's level 100
for American History and this is their main spine they use
and it was cheaper here.

Using as part of my 5th/6th grade homeschool history.

Is the 10th book in this set the 3rd or 4th edition?
Cherline P on Nov 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Includes all 10 volumes (Vol. 10 is 4th Ed.) and Sourcebook.
This says grades 6-10. Would this be considered a high school history full credit course for 9th grade?
A shopper on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This really depends upon your goals for the student. The series is comprehensive. It covers all of the main events as well as a glimpse of culture and society at the different periods. The primary texts included in the source book provide an additional challenge. The text itself would not provide much challenging vocabulary for a 9th grader as my 5th grader was able to read the first four volumes without much trouble. By assigning primary sources as additional reading material and requiring essays, this would be a thorough and enjoyable US history class.
Is this book set hardcover or paperback?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The set of books we received were paperback
Is this book series written from a Christian perspective?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is not written from a Christian perspective, but I have not seen anything anti-Christian. The author's opinion is evident, but she is very obvious that it is indeed her opinion.
What is the difference in these two sets other than the sourcebook? The books look different.

History of US 11-Volume Set 3rd Edition Revised with Sourcebook
History of US 11-Volume Set 3rd Edition Revised with Sourcebook
History of US 10-Volume Set 3rd Edition Revised without Sourcebook
History of US 10-Volume Set 3rd Edition Revised without Sourcebook
BEST ANSWER: There is no difference, only the 11-volume set does come with
the sourcebook which has documents and speeches from the past,
hope this helps. Depends on what you are using it for or with, like
if you are using the Sonlight curriculum and following the IG guide,
you will need the 11-volume set, 3rd addition or 4th edition for volume 10.
Hope this helps you some.
We've been using The Story of the World for 2 years and are thinking of changing to The Story of US for 8th Grade. Do I purchase separate work books for every volume in the series? I'm confused...
User on Mar 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I was able to purchase the entire set on Rainbow Resource, but you can also purchase each volume individually. My son loves to read them. We have also found them to be an excellent resource for research papers.
Does this series look at what was going on in the rest of the world as well like the Genevieve Foster books or only the US?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not that familiar with the Genevieve Foster books, and
my son and I are only in the middle of volume 3 right now in the History of US,
but I believe the 1st volume told more about other parts of the world, but the History
of US is basically united states history, so that's what it mostly covers.
Trust this helps some.
What is included with this set? Do you have to buy the teacher guide and study guides separate? What is the difference between the 11 book set and the 10 book set, besides the obvious? The 10 book is more for some reason.
A shopper on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This sent includes the ten History of US volumes and the Sourcebook (an index). They are the 3rd edition Revised edition. The 10 book set, as you noted, does not include the Sourcebook but otherwise is the same ten History of US volumes. I have no good explanation why the 11 volume set is less expensive than the 10 volume set.
Yes, you do have to buy the teacher guide and the study guides separately.
