Description

Let’s get together and do some bug collecting! With 90 colorful insect cards and 9 different types of bugs, it is interesting and strategic to find the best combinations of these bugs to collect for the most points. Each round consists of two parts.

  1. Card Drafting: players take turns drafting two cards each from the “floor” which is a common display area. When collecting cards during the game, different bugs provide unique opportunities to score at the end of the game. For instance, a set of four ladybugs will score 25 points; the player with the most ants scores 5 points per ant, collecting an even number of beetle cards scores more points than an odd number, etc. Once all players have collected their two cards each round, there will be one card leftover on the floor.
  2. One Card Moves to the Wall: The leftover card each round goes to the “wall” and the special action for that card is followed. These actions might give players a chance to swap cards from their hands, draw another card from the deck, surrender, a card from their hand to the “floor” or any one of the other actions that a particular bug card uses as a “wall power.” Next, deal new cards to the floor and the next round of drafting begins. Once the end card appears in the deck, the game is over.

Each player totals their score for all of the nine possible bug collections on their scorepad. The person with the most points wins the game!

Although this seems like a simple set collection card game, once you learn the various scoring abilities of each bug, it can be a deeper strategizing experience, which holds the interest of a wide range of ages. Younger players will love the beauty of the bug cards and enjoy collecting them. Adding in the wall actions, which vary each round, gives additional chances to make changes to your hand when new opportunities present themselves. Overall, I am enthusiastic about this charming, satisfying card game with cute creepy crawlers. ~Marsha
