Category Description for Botley The Coding Robot

Screen-free programming for the wee coders in the family! Botley is an interesting introduction to programming, requiring nothing more than a remote-control programmer. In addition to following up to 80 programmed steps, Botley is able to detect and avoid obstacles, follow programmed "loop" commands (go forward, turn, go forward, turn, etc.), and even sense and follow black lines without the need for programming. The idea is to combine Botley with "active challenges" for kids to solve - following a route, finishing an obstacle course, or even playing a simple game (such as pushing a ball into a goal). Once kids understand the basics, Botley can be used for just about any simple activity they can think of!
