Quick and easy
This program is without fluff and straight to the point of dealing with spelling. It takes minimal time to teach and for the student to complete. Especially valuable for those students who are discouraged with spelling. Must be consistent to see progress but progress will come along with spelling confidence.

love it
we have been using sequential spelling for over a year now (started level 1 in 3rd grade) and LOVE it. Because they correct mistakes as soon as they are made, it feels like learning together, not like taking a test. My daughter loves spelling! I highly recommend sequential spelling because it reviews and builds on it' self...making spelling easier. We use the teacher book, and then my kids write in a regular notebook

Best spelling curriculum ever!!
We have 4 days/week to get our work done and 32 weeks to complete it. Sequential Spelling gets us thru that with ease AND the way it chunks the words together makes my kids remember, its so much easier! Love love love this. I'm so thankful for Kelly Lawson who recommended it to me for my dyslexic children!!!

I bought a used teacher manual from a local homeschool mom. I think the student workbook will help us piece everything together.

are we allowed to make copies from the book for more than one student?
User on Jan 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The teacher’s manual is the heart of this program. The student book is merely a place to record their lists as they are quizzed. For the most part, it could be replaced with a notebook of lined paper. There are spelling related activites interspersed throughout, but they are non-essential to the program.
What year was this revised edition published?

How long does it take to work through each book? How many books should I plan to need for one full school year?
User on Aug 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sequential Spelling is based on 180 lessons. You can do it one per day or slow it down to a couple per week.....just depends on how fast you want to get through it. My child is in second grade...she likes the program, but after a few weeks it can get a little monotonus.....so we are slowing it down to 2-3 times per week instead of every day. Remember, the student book is just the book the students can write their words in (you could just use notebook paper). It also has an "activity" on the back of each page for extra spelling/vocabulary practice. You need to purchase the teacher book in order to get the spelling words. Overall, I really like the program and my child is progressing well. My only issue is that it can get a little "old" if you were to do it every single day.
How long does each book take to work through? I understand you give one test per day; with that in mind how many books would it take to stay with it for one full school year?
A shopper on Aug 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are 180 lists in the Level 1 book with 4 review tests. Each book should last 1 school year. I agree with the recommendation to take the test at the beginning of the day, so there is time to retest later in the day if the student doesn't do well. We don't always accomplish that, so our book lasts a bit longer.
How long does each book take to work through? Would you use one per school year or how many sets do you think you would order for one school year?
A shopper on Aug 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are 180 lessons in each book. A lot! You would have to do a lesson a day without fail to finish in a regular school year. We did school at home 4 days a week, therefore we were not able to finish each book in one year. So, wherever we left off, we just picked it up the next year. As soon as that book was done, I bought another one. Definitely, one book per year.
can i use the AVKO version with the revised version? and if so. would it replace the teacher or student book?
User on Mar 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The AVKO version is the original version and would be used instead of the teacher in the revised series. Although there will be a general agreement between the two versions in terms of spelling lists, there might be some differences.
i see the grade level listed is 1 to 3 but i also heard if you are new to this to start with book 1. I have a fourth grader . Which book do i start with ?
User on Mar 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Rather than doing two lessons per day from the same level, I would recommend ordering Level 1 and 2. Do a lesson from each book each day. That way, you get the excellent long-term repetition that's built into the book, but you also expose the child to more patterns and spelling rules.
