Description

Embark on a journey through the mountains as your traveler encounters new challenges and goals moving through each season. Personally, when I am looking for a challenge, I enjoy adding Spirecrest as it gives the game additional complexity. In addition, however, I also like the opportunity to meet alternate goal choices when I am not able to qualify for the game’s event cards.

Use the new Mountain board to take a journey through each season using your new Rabbit Traveler Meeple. Each time a season ends and the core game season steps are completed, players move to the next road marker on the Mountain Board where there are added steps to prepare for the upcoming season. Here is a summary of the new items and opportunities:

  1. Weather Cards: At the beginning of the game, the first of four weather cards on the new Mountain Board goes into effect. These cards create a condition for each player while they are in the current season and a new card activates for each season. Two examples are 1.) This season, each card played from your hand will cost an extra resource 2.) Each time a player visits a location to gain resources they gain one less resource.
  2. Everdell Map Tiles: There are several choices for each of the three new seasons. When a player ends each season, they choose a tile from the board to add to an expedition tile that they receive at the beginning of the game. At the end of the game, three added tiles represent an expedition. Each step has an end-game goal such as, having a designated number of extra resources or cards at the end of the game to score additional points. If a player meets the goal on the first tile, they may proceed to the second tile. As they meet each goal, there is an opportunity to score additional points for that tile. Players must meet each goal in order to move to the next tile for three possible point additions for the expedition.
  3. Discovery Cards: When a player moves into the spring, summer and fall seasons, three discovery cards are available for each of these seasons that provide opportunities for additional points, ongoing abilities, additional locations for their workers to visit or Big Critters. The Big Critters replace one worker and they have saddles that a worker can ride on as they visit either standard locations or locations that normal workers cannot visit. They also provide additional actions and rewards that vary with each Critter.

What makes Everdell such a great game is that it provides a world of discovery as players experience the story, wonder and variety included with both the core game and its expansions. Travel to the valley and experience the adventure! For 1-4 players with a 40 to 100-minute game time, depending on player count. ~Marsha
