Living History of Our World volume 8
My history lover high schooler loves this, her favorite this year. History comes alive and definitely remembered. Not dry or text book like. Lots of smaller research and writing on very interesting topics, but not so much to scare a hesitant writer away. It is easily adjusted or as in depth as you want. My high schooler thinks it is fun and looks forward to it!

I did not want a dry, boring textbook. My daughter actually asked for this book.

We have used other history books written by Angela O'Dell and have enjoyed them. They fit our family well :)

Wondering what credits I could assign a 9th grader for completing this curriculum, including the recommended literature?
A shopper on Jan 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You could assign a credit in U.S. History (social studies) as well as a half credit in literature. You could call it a credit in English 9 if your student also completed composition instruction and assignments as well as some literary analysis of the books read.
if using for HS and needing to come up with a grade for the year, is there a concrete way for doing that? Also, are there daily lesson plans?

BEST ANSWER: Assignments are listed chapter by chapter, day by day in the Student Journal. However, few of the assignments are "objective" - i.e. multiple choice or true/false. Instead, the assignments tend to be composition assignments and research based. Most of the assignments would be considered objective and while they could still be graded, it will be more difficult to do so.
