Good curriculum. Trenches a variety of concepts and really solidified them with repetition.

A great set!
I’ve always enjoyed using the Saxon math program. I didn’t use it for kindergarten for my older two, but I’m so glad I decided to for my third. She is ravenous when it comes to schoolwork and this is working out great - nice tidbits of work with real results.

Saxon Math K
As a busy homeschool mom, this program requires too many extra supplies and I find this particular book to be unnecessary. Skip Saxon until 5/4. I really enjoy the upper level Saxon books but not the K level.

Love that it gives you the dialogue!
My son and I have just started using this curriculum. We are currently on lesson 14 and it's been great so far! I love that it gives you exactly what to say during the lesson. I was nervous about how to teach math concepts but now that I have done a few lessons I feel more comfortable going "off script" if I need to. Some of the lessons were VERY basic and sort of repetitive at the beginning so I skipped a few. Overall, I'm very happy and I will continue to use Saxon math for years to come!

Great program for a younger kindergartener
I am homeschooling my 9th child. This is our 20th year o homeschool. I had never used the Saxon K before; I had always used the Saxon 1 and did half of it in kindergarten and finished it in 1st grade. My daughter is a young kindergartener and she has thrived with it. Such fun and a great introduction to math for young ones.

Saxon simplifies!
We have not sped through the curriculum, but I love how small and incremental each lesson proves to be. I have only used Saxon since 3rd level with my older kids, but decided to start here with my pre-k student. I love that it builds in time to play with the manipulatives so when they are actually used, kids are familiar with them. It is scripted well and allows you to develop a great routine so students know what to expect. My only struggle with it is the calendar/daily meeting starts in September. I was going to start in August and then my student got so excited to start, we began in April so I am starting at lesson 1 and just changing the months and not going in the order of the meeting workbook, which is fine. Just a little tweaking that takes my time. You know with Saxon you will cover all the basics with continuous review so my bent to a more classical model of education is satisfied.

I purchased this curriculum and the required manipulatives for my daughters kindergarten year She was 5-6 years old This program was incredibly easy to use If you are new to homeschooling or just prefer a curriculum that holds your hand a little you will enjoy the instructors guide with scripted lessons for you the instructor My daughter loved using the manipulatives especially the teddy bear counters and the Judy clock There was occasionally some prep work required but it was often very simple and of little or no cost Most lessons I was able to "open and go" which came in very handy as we were schooling with a newborn The program was also very flexible Allowing us to skip ahead or do the lessons out of order My only word of caution is that we found the K level to be easier than we expected My five year old had finished the book by January of her K year If I had it to do over again I would definitely buy Saxon but maybe begin Kindergarten using the 1st grade book I would recommend this program to other homeschoolers and we plan to use it again with our younger children

Saxon Math K is by far my FAVORITE math program out there (after homeschooling 7 kids I have tried a lot) For the parent it is well organized- it even scripted the lesson for you if you are "instructionally challenged" like me It directs you where to go and what to use- taking all of the guesswork out of using the curriculum!! For the child it is hands on (which is one of its biggest selling points to me) thouroughly engaging and so much fun ~ I don't even think the children realize they are "learning" My 2 youngest are using it now and they beg me to do math work with them everyday!! Another point my 2 youngest are special needs learners which makes choosing a curriculum a bit more tricky at times This curriculum is well-suited to a special needs child It provides extra repetition and predictibility for them- something I know my special needs kidlets thrive on Again the hands on and engaging style also make it perfect for them Overall I can't say enough about this curriculum but if you are searching this is a great one!!
