I love this book! I've been reading a library copy, but I'm getting so much out of it that I need my own to underline and write notes in the margins.

What year is the publication?

BEST ANSWER: We just purchased a new paperback version of this book from this site. Its copyright is 1940, renewed in 1967 and republished in 1972. This is a classic text. An outstanding book to aid both teachers of younger students, and for older, independent students.
I have an avid reader in 9th/10th grade this year that just completed 25-30 Classics this year with Sonlight 200. What age/grade would you recommend this book for and why?
Thanks,
Chris

BEST ANSWER: I used this book for high school, and this is what my daughter suggested: "I would say high school age. It [the book] teaches you to recognize themes, characteristics of certain books and style of the author. You have to trace important parts of the book and how it all fits together to remember things better."
