I wanted to love it....
But didn't. I guess I don't like too many manipulatives. I love the concept and the ideas within the curriculum. It just feels fussy to me.

I bought the file box to save myself the time of hunting down the right materials; but, a person could easily use their own - just go to Michael's or some other store with an extra long index card box and cut some styrofoam or foam rubber to fill in the extra space so that your cards stand upright. I gave it a 4 star rating not because there is any defect in the product I received; but only because it's not essential to purchase from them.

Difficult to use with multiple levels
I purchased all the levels to use with my 6 th, 4th and 3rd grader. Since we have not used the program we had to start the sixth grader at level 3 to get concepts that are needed for higher levels and it was frustrating for him to review to that degree if we were to continue it would take him years to get to level 7, or a lot extra time. Since we have three kids at different spots the card organization does not work well and takes a fair amount of effort to keep it all sraight. The program has not been working well for our family. I could see it being useful if you only had one child using it and started them young. Maybe I am missing something obvious but we have not been able to make this program work for us.

Wish I had found this earlier.
We love this program. It's great for reading and spelling. My 9 year old is an amazing reader but struggles with spelling so we started back on year one and it was easy to see and fix the gaps that were holding her back.

My son is dyslexic and was really struggling with spelling. These lessons are taught using visual, auditory, and tactile methods. Now he is remembering how to spell and is growing in confidence. I cannot thank you enough!

I started using AAS with my youngest daughter when she turned 5 I used Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read with her when she was 3 and so she was already reading well at 5 years old as well as writing well So I decided she was ready to do spelling even though she was only 5 years old She turned 6 May this year and she is now almost finished with level 2 of AAS She is spelling words phrases and sentences with confidence The program is easy to use with very little prep time I highly recommend this program

I chose this one over the Deluxe kit because I didn't think the bag and the box were worth $22+ or whatever the difference in cost is between the two kits. I did want the Review Box to hold the cards in though, so I purchased that separately from Rainbow, for $10.95.

we have the student/teacher packages but not the interactive kit
Shannan F on Feb 8, 2019
I have been told this is an essential for students doing the program, I have 2 children and based on what I was told by the All About Reading customer service each child will need their own interactive kit but that it will follow them through the entire program so it is a one time purchase per child.

I will be using these with a group of students and needed a classroom set. We will be able to use these for several years, with the younger grade levels. This is a great program and same price as listed on their site. I saved shipping when I ordered through Rainbow.

"It was cheaper to buy the Basic Interactive Kit and the Review Box than buying the "better kit" that had the Review Box and a tote bag (which I thought was not necessary)"
Amber P on Nov 9, 2017
I did not buy this when I bought level 1 and thought it might be helpful as I continue and teaching my next two kiddos. I thought it would be worth the investment.
Jill P on Nov 6, 2017

My son (11) has difficulty spelling, and I have heard this would be a good supplement for him. He has Asperger's. He is looking forward to the blocks that come with the kit. We are hopeful it will help him in spelling.

I'm strongly considering this but I am not able to use the app, did that work out okay using the other items in this kit, but not the app?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I never used the app. My son is doing excellent in spelling. At his annual school evaluation the evaluator said he is above grade level. We started it at the beginning of first grade and got through 2 and a half books. We will be using it again this year - he is going into second. It’s a very solid program!
Do I need a set of letter tiles and divider cards for each child?
A shopper on May 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: One set of letter tiles would be fine for multiple kids, as long as they aren’t trying to use them at the same time.

As for the dividers, they keep track of the child’s progress (review, mastered, and future lessons), so you’d want to have a file box for each child. If each child is at a different level, you’d especially want to keep their card sets separated.
Can I use one kit for two kids at different levels at the same time?

BEST ANSWER: Parts of it. The letter tiles, for instance, can easily be used for two different students. However, you probably want a separate card box and set of divider cards for each student, since the organization of the box is specific to each child's progress and need for review.

I bought this kit and it does not contain the Consonant Suffixes or Vowel Suffixes that are needed in All About Spelling Level 3 Step 11. Where do I find those? In the deluxe kit?

All About Spelling Deluxe Interactive Kit
BEST ANSWER: There are extra tiles that are introduced at each level. They are supplied with the student material for each level and are not part of either the basic or the deluxe set.
Does this come with the homophone CD?
A shopper on Aug 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not. Instead there is a link to download a free app from the All About Spelling website.
Do I need a interactive kit for aas and aar or can I use the same one?
User on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can use 1 kit for both programs. Each level of both program includes additional tiles for that particular level.
Is it necessary to get these if I already have everything for All About Reading? Or is it completely different material?
Carina L on Jan 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The letter tiles, magnets and pronunciation app are identical between the two kits. The divider cards are different with the spelling cards having additional dividers to the ones included with the reading.
